Comfort Inn Gaslamp Convention Center

Great location, 10 minutes walk to the convention center. Nice and clean room, a bit small but enough for 1 person. Sink is outside bathroom next to the bed, which might be upsetting for some. Breakfast is included, which is a huge plus. Staffs are very helpful with my reservation issue during the check-in and stored my luggage for the day after check-out.

I had a great experience staying here! I only stayed for one night, but my experience was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially since we arrived about 4 hours before check-in time and were given the opportunity to check-in early. We had planned to store our luggage at the front desk prior to check-in time, but the staff members were very accommodating to our early arrival. The room was a bit small and there wasn't much room to move around, but the room had everything we needed including a mini fridge, microwave, desk, ironing board, hair dryer, toiletries, etc. The sink was outside of the bathroom which was convenient, as one person was able to use the bathroom while the other person used the sink/mirror area to brush teeth, apply makeup, do hair, etc. The complimentary continental breakfast was good and offered a large selection of hot and cold foods. There was a waffle maker and mini pancake maker as well as scrambled eggs, sausage links, cereal, yogurt, fruit, pastries, toast, juice, coffee, milk, and oatmeal packets. Parking does cost extra, but I am unsure of how much it costs as I did not park a car at the hotel during my stay. You absolutely can't beat the location of this hotel, as there is so much to do within walking distance of the hotel. Petco Park is about a 15-minute walk (if that) from the hotel, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well.

I am writing this comment 5 minutes after getting into my room. Honestly, this is the BEST 2-star hotel I’ve ever been in. Rooms are not spacious, but clean and include all the must-have basics. There are new window ACs and TVs. There is definitely some street noise, but that’s expected. If you need a great, affordable stay, this is it.

Easy check in and check out process, we were even able to have our bags held on our check out day while we went to the zoo before our afternoon flight. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and simple

I know the origin name of the hotel. "Comfort inn" because comfortable! It is located good place of San Diego downtown. You can access famous landmark easily from the hotel. Room has wide aisle and big bed, and most impressive thing is that there is a wash basin next to a bed. Very comfy. All counter staff are kind. You can get breakfast (it depends on plan??), you can get coffee, bread, etc etc...You can make pancakes and waffle!! Very comfy. It was my first time I made waffle. I didn't know how to make and I made mistake but a staff recovered it. Thanks to her, I got good breakfast. Unfortunately, there were too noisy bike sounds at midnight. Because of downtown. TV screen is not good, that's the only negative thing.

The staff (Celeste and another gentleman we did not catch the name of) were incredibly kind and accommodating. We had several one-off requests that they didn't blink an eye at and did it with a smile. We have traveled quite a bit and this is some of the best service we have had. The room was comfortable with great beds and cold a.c. The only downside was there was a dead cockroach on the floor, hair in the bathroom, and the TV frequently disconnected from the internet. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, especially considering the price. If we come back to the area, we would have no problem staying here again.

The room is nice and clean. Not a lot of room to move around but this is California. You're not supposed to be in it all day! Trolley station is 5 blocks away and easy to get around the city without a vehicle. That same trolley stops at the airport. Lots of bars, clubs and restaurants nearby this hotel.

Great location with friendly staff, but some room issues The location is excellent—plenty of restaurants and local shops within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is older but well-maintained and quiet. Our room had a few maintenance issues: the sink drained very slowly, and the ceiling fan and light didn’t work at all. Parking is the main drawback at $50/night through the hotel. There’s a lot 3 blocks away for $35/night, or you can try street meters, though availability isn’t guaranteed. Be aware there’s a significant homeless presence in the area, with a Salvation Army facility nearby that attracts encampments. The highlight of our stay was the front desk associate with long, dark curly hair working on 12/30/25. She was incredibly sweet, helpful, and provided outstanding customer service. As regular Choice Rewards members, we’ve stayed at many properties, and genuinely friendly staff like her are a rare find these days. She made our experience so much better—thank you for caring about your guests!
